The online world is changing the world of Network Marketing. The internet is the ultimate network, and MLM pioneers are currently setting the stage to take this opportunity to a profitable place online.
Online MLM is vastly different from offline MLM, but a few things stay the same no matter the medium:
A recruit invests in YOU, not the opportunity
A new team member is generally more attracted to the enthusiasm and character of their sponsor than to the company or opportunity itself.
Network Marketing is about the network
The more people you can reach, the easier it is to build a business
No longer is it necessary to hit up your family and friends to get them signed up, no longer do you have to strike up a conversation with a stranger at the post office.
Now you can build a business online exclusively and have online MLM success.
This is particularly appealing to those of us who are homebound due to babies at home, having only one vehicle, an illness or disease that makes it difficult to leave the house, or even those of us who are sick of paying high gasoline prices.
Online MLM success is also appealing to those who love the MLM concept, but are shy or not overly outgoing in personality.
The information I am about to give you on online mlm success works for those who can commit to a process and keep with it.
It will cost you both time and money.
Many many people have put the following online MLM success steps into place and have totally changed their lives. Its time you joined them.
1. Acquire Business Skills
If you want to truly change your life by starting a business intended to reap online MLM success, you need to actually start a business, not a hobby.
Your business is not something you do when it is convenient, when it sounds like a good idea, or when you are looking to impress your peers.
It is something you give of yourself every day; something you sacrifice other areas of your life to build, and something you believe in.
It is not always fun, and in order to build online MLM success, it cannot be a hobby.
Most people do not have a clue as to how to go into business for themselves. They simply do not know where to start.
It doesn’t matter if we are talking a traditional business or one focused on online MLM success.
It takes discipline and a clear sense of direction to build a successful business. You have to know it takes time and work, that it won’t happen overnight, and you have to be confident that if you just keep working at it, it will happen.
It can be frustrating, spending day after day, week after week, month after month plugging away with little results. But if you are doing what you should be doing, and your progress consistently increasing, then determination will win out in the end.
If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend reading Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki. This wonderful book will give you a sense of direction and some key mental building blocks for successfully starting a business.
Next, keep in mind some of the following points.
Set Up a Business
Check with your state or county and figure out what you need to do to legally operate yourself as a business. Consult a tax advisor for your area. Find out whether you need a license, if you should file business taxes with your personal taxes, or if you should incorporate. See what will best meet your needs.
Open a Separate Bank Account
Your business needs to be separate from your personal needs. You need to be able to track what you are spending so that you can see if and when you are turning a profit.
Income Goes Back to Business
When you start to make money with your business, it is important that you do not take all of that money back out of the business in order to fund personal things. Don’t forget your business needs as well. Plan on keeping all money in the business for at least a year.
Work it Daily
Set aside time each day to work your business. Treat it like a job. Plan on arriving on time and putting 100% of your effort into your business for whatever amount of time you have scheduled. Don’t skip this, or try to cut it short. A business will not build itself. It is up to you to discipline yourself enough to build it.
Keep it Professional
Remember that you are representing a business, and keep your work and your contacts professional. Respond promptly to phone calls an email and don’t let product samples with peanut butter and jelly smudges go out to potential client. When people deal with a business, they expect it to be professional. Don’t let them down.
2. Educate Yourself on Online Network Marketing
This field, online MLM success, is very different from anything you may have imagined both online and offline. It is important to take the time to educate yourself on this market.
If you plan on building online MLM success, you MUST purchase and read Ann Sieg’s ebook The Renegade Network Marketer.
Do not bypass this critical step.
I don’t feel that this is an optional purchase if you want online MLM success. The concepts and foundation that you will learn in her book will save you years in experience.
In addition to teaching you how to build your biz online, she provides a potential source of income to supplement your monetary needs while simultaneously building your business.
If it wasn’t for my purchase of Ann’s book, this site, my online MLM success, and the majority of my income, simply would not exist. It was due to my learning and implementing the marketing concepts in The Renegade Network Marketer that I have changed my life.
Don’t get me wrong: The Renegade Network Marketer is not a lotto ticket. Money will not fall from the sky if you purchase the book. But if you buy it, read it, and implement the online MLM success key concepts, you will be on the right path to building your business online.
3. Don’t Put All Your Eggs In One Basket
MLM encourages us to build a grand business.
The companies want us to think about them, and their product 24/7.
They want our focus to be the one company and nothing more.
There are two good reasons why you don’t want to do this:
The company may go belly-up
I don’t want to scare you, but it happens sometimes that MLM companies fail. I know a lot of people who have been involved in one company or another who have lost their entire source of income. I know others who inadvertently broke company rules and were”fired”, again, losing their entire source of income.
It takes time, and money to build a business
The reality is that it will take you time and some money to build your MLM business. If your MLM company is your only stream of income, this can be difficult, especially in the early days.MLM should never be your one single stream of income. No income source should be. You need to make sure that you have other ways to make money so that if this stream runs dry, for one reason or another, you are still doing ok.
I hope this section does not sound too negative for you. My intention is to be practical and realistic. You can make it big in MLM, and have online MLM success, but just like every avenue in life, something unforeseen can happen to change that. Better to know this from the beginning and plan appropriately.
4. Make a One Year Plan
You’ve heard me say it before and I will say it again: you cannot build a profitable business overnight.
Plan on scraping by that first year. Hope for significant income in the second year. Plan for a learning curve. And set a goal of where you want to be in a year’s time.
Make sure you keep it realistic. You will not be making six figures in a year’s time. It just doesn’t work that way. Make your online MLM success goals attainable, realistic, but something you need to strive to reach.
For example, when I started this website, I set the following goals for myself:
“By the end of one year, I will be making more than $XXXX a month from my website. I will be in Alexa’s top 250,000. I will have so many leads contacting me on a daily basis to join my opportunities that I will be able to give these leads to quality members of my team. I will be happy that my work is benefiting others and changing lives.”
I do have other goals of where I want to be at that one year mark, but these goals are the ones that pertain to my MLM involvement.
After six months into that goal statement, I can honestly tell you that I am well on my way towards achieving, and surpassing those goals. I am obtaining online MLM success.
If you notice, I made it a point to say “I will” instead of “I hope”. By changing the wording like that, you take a goal into reality. You are not hoping to be there, you are planning on being there.
After you get your statement together about what you would like to accomplish, then you need to put into writing what it is that you will be doing to accomplish those goals.
What do you need to do on a daily basis to reach your goals? What tasks need to be accomplished weekly? Monthly? What training will you need? What milestones do you want to cross? When?
Be detailed in your plan.
My plan is way too detailed to include here, but it includes large and small tasks, and how I intend to accomplish them.
Once you have a plan in place, stick to it!
5. Pick A Company
Whereas this seems like the logical first thing to do, picking a company is not necessarily the top priority.
If you don’t have the business skills, MLM education, and a detailed plan to work with, it doesn’t matter in the least if you have picked a company to represent.
Many people will come to this section with a company already picked out.
That is fine, but if you don’t currently have a company, then these tips may help you decide on one.
Follow Your Interests
Its a lot easier to sell and promote a product or service that you find interesting. Into healthy living? Find a health and wellness company. Like candles? Join a candle MLM.
Explore the Company
Once you have found a company or a series of companies that interest you, search for information about that company. Do they belong to any professional organizations? Are they debt free? How long have they been in business? How do other distributors feel about them? How about ex-distributors, why did they leave? What kinds of exclusions do their terms of service require? Are you allowed to be involved with more than one MLM company at the same time? Is this important to you?
Research the Program
Find out how the program works. Do they require a minimum monthly purchase? Does this purchase requirement grow as your team grows? If the company uses points, how much money do you really have to spend? Is the price of the main product reasonable for reselling? Or is their “wholesale” price more than you would normally pay for a comparable product retail?
Understand the Comp Plan
The compensation plan for a company is very important. Many compensation plans are complex. Make sure you understand how much money you can potentially earn in a company. Do you need to enroll a certain number of distributors before you can earn commissions? Does your commission grow as your team grows?
Interview the Upline
If you are new to MLM, or feel that you will need the help of your upline, it will be important to you to have a few conversations with the person who will sponsor you, and even possibly their sponsor as well. Do you find this person professional? Do they know what they are talking about? Do you feel comfortable learning from this person?
Sample the Product
If you have not had a sample of the product or service, make sure that you take the time to do this before you join the program. The last thing you want is to find the perfect company for you and find out after joining that their product tastes terrible, or doesn’t preform as promoted. If the person who is trying to recruit you is unwilling or unable to give (or sell) you a sample, find another sponsor.
6. Find Your Niche
Now that you have acquired the skills and education needed in order to succeed, and you have chosen your company and product, it is time to find your niche market. If you are unsure what a niche market is, please see the following pages:
What is Niche Marketing?
Find Your Unique Niche
Determine what market, that you are already familiar with, will best be able to use your product or opportunity. Decide the best approach to take with this market to present your product or opportunity.
Talk to those in your niche market to better understand their wants and needs so that you can effectively market specifically to those wants and needs.
7. Create a Website
Using SiteBuildIt, create a website.
Why Site Build It?
No other web platform does what SiteBuildIt does.
SBI takes you from start to finish and shows you how to create a profitable website with online MLM success.
It is an all inclusive program that comes with everything you need to build a site from scratch, without any previous knowledge or experience. Hosting is included.
Now, you may be thinking, “but my company provided a website for me.”
Not good enough.
Your company provided a duplicated website. You will not generate any traffic through search engines with that site, in fact, search engines HATE duplicated sites.
The goal with Online MLM success is to have qualified leads coming to you, not you going out to hunt for leads. With a unique website your leads will get to know you, your products or opportunity, and then will make the decision to contact you for more information.
Anyone who contacts you is honest-to-goodness interested in what you are providing.
So you create a content based website, either highlighting a problem that your product fixes, or a need that your opportunity fills.
You do not mention anything having to do with your MLM directly on the site. No company names, no links to your replicated site, nothing. Instead, you provide ways for your viewers to get into contact with you, and when they do, you provide them the additional information they are requesting.
Does it work?
I challenge you to look around my site. Can you find a link to either of the MLM companies I represent? Can you find the company names?
Many of you have come across these businesses in the past, and may be able to guess which companies I represent, but you will not see a link to my company sponsored sites here. The only way you will get that info is to contact me.
Another reason not to list your company: above, I mentioned that you shouldn’t put all your eggs into one basket.
Why? Because the company can drop you or go out of business. My site is not about a particular company. It is about staying a stay at home mom. If I made a site completely about one company, and they went out of business, I’d be in trouble.
Instead, if something happens to my company, I can switch companies and continue my online MLM success.
8. Just Do It
The final, and most important, step to creating profitable online MLM success is to just do it.
Take the information you have learned, the goals you have written and the enthusiasm you feel and put it to action.
Take those final steps and make your business happen.
It is one thing to go through the planning stages, and another to start the business itself.
What happens if you fail?
You’ve lost a little money and some time, but have gained valuable information, and know what not to do again to obtain online MLM success.
One of my favorite sayings goes as follows:
“I’d rather have 1% of something than 100% of nothing.”
The only way to have 1% of something is to do it. Work your plan. Take that initial, sometimes terrifying step out of your comfort zone and into the rest of your life.
Those who have come before you will tell you, it can be done, and it all starts right now.
Its up to you to take that first step towards online MLM success.
