You must be a notary in your state. Check out the National Notary site for requirements in each individual state. Most require a background check, a certain amount of time at your residence, and a fee.
Some states require you to attend classes and most require testing. Each state has different requirements.
Reliable Transportation
You will need to drive to your client’s home, or in some situations to a neutral meeting location in order to perform your services. You will need ongoing dependable and reliable transportation.
Care for Children
As this is a professional position, you will need someone to care for your children while you are performing your services. This position would work well for a stay at home mom with school aged children.

Compensation
Compensation for notary signing agents is actually quite good.
There are some hoops to jump through, the biggest being actually becoming a notary in your state, but once you do, becoming a mobile notary can be quitelucrative.
You would be considered an independent contractor and as such would be responsible for deducting your expenses and paying your own taxes. Compensation ranges from $75-200 per notarization, depending on firm, area, type of documents and so on.
It is not uncommon for a notary signing agent to earn $2,500-5,000 per month once she gets going. You would be responsible for your own expenses such as supplies and mileage. You can also combine this service with Photographic Field Services and possibly overlap projects.
